Windsor Silver Jubilee Closing Dinner

Peter Phillips, the patron of the Harry Birrell Scholarship Trust (HBST), hosted a closing silver Jubilee dinner in Windsor on Friday 15th September 2023, which was attended by current, elect and prospective Birrell Blues and partners.

A wonderful event started with the attendance of Evensong in St George’s chapel in Windsor Castle, followed by a Birrell Blues award ceremony on the steps of St George’s chapel including an award to Mila Mafanya (HBST Scholar No 1). After photographs in the grounds of Windsor Castle, our piper for the evening (Dave Springer) led the party in procession to the Guildhall in Windsor.

After a drinks reception and during dinner at the Guildhall, speeches were made by Mila Mafanya, Angie Marriner (also the recipient of an earlier Birrell Blue award in Windsor Castle), our Chairman and the Patron. The assembled guests heard about the impact of HBST in the lives of scholars past and present and the plans for building on and extending such impact over the next twenty-five years of the trust’s activities.
